When I was a kid, a buddy of mine’s mom had like * exactly* this car. The interior matched that burgundy - it was like a comfy bordello in the back seat ( but always cold because always she had it on MAX AC).
Hell I even remember the license plate - DC 1826 ( her initials and their street number)
Good times!

That’s pure class. CVN class to be sure, but class nonetheless.

Growing up, we had a Pontiac Grand Safari wagon in the same color, same Rally II wheels. Thing was a beast! 400 CI motor, flip up rear-facing third row. Many memories of long road trips, cat stowaways, and the utterance of, “If I have to pull this car over!”
Next time I see my parents, need to scan some photos.

There’s a somewhat similar and even rarer 2 door equivalent of this on local CL:

Wow kinja is so borked I can’t even click an obvious hyperlink. Thanks kinja!
The Grand Ville was the top of the line - above even the Bonnie. And always seemed pretty rare to me.

Those wheels and tires are awful on that car but easy to fix. “455 4 barrel dual exhaust”. Yeah I’m pretty sure that was all *standard* on the Grand Ville. Ah, for the good old days of cheap gas...

If it was a wagon of the same generation as the pictured Pontiac sedan (1971-1976), it would’ve been the neat clamshell tailgate wagon , which had a forward-facing front row (and correspondingly longer wheelbase).

There’s an even rarer Parisienne hardtop nearby on Kijiji , cheap too.
These Parisiennes were largely retrimmed U.S. Bonnevilles though (same wheelbase, Pontiac engines).

I dream of taking a big American luxobarge like this, swapping in a manual trans, letting whatever 7 litre boat anchor is in front breathe, and then adding the biggest sway bars money can fab.

Looks like grandpa got a little close to the garage a few times. But negotiate that out of the price, and it could be right for someone who can clean it up. Few of those left.
